This is my 3rd pair of xx2i glasses to test and I’ve been really happy with the brand! You can read my reviews of the USA1 and the Bermuda (lifestyle) to learn more about their product lineup but there’s a few great selling points that exist across the the whole brand:

  • 365 return policy
  • Lifetime guarantee
  • Each pair comes with a padded hard case, soft case/cleaning cloth
  • Affordability – plus you get 50% off with code Xx2iRocks!

Too many daily options!

Labeling is key for easy grab and go!

The Hawaii1 is made with ultralight carbon fiber, a polarized 8k lens, and adjustable nose piece (similar to the USA1). When I first pulled them out of the box I was a bit worried because they were so light they felt like they could easily break. However, I’ve worn them on runs, bike commutes, triathlons, daily wear in my car, etc. without any integrity issues. Since the hard case is bulky, I carry them around in my sports bag or purse just in the cloth bag and they haven’t been bent or scratched.

The adjustable nose piece was nice for getting the lenses close to my face, which I prefer. More importantly, they were so light, they fit easily with a visor or with my bike helmet. I was able to wear the Hawaii1 with a visor and over-the-ear headphones with no discomfort. However, the glasses were so light I often felt like they would fall off my face and compulsively kept pushing them on my nose. I generally prefer the more robust plastic material used in the USA1 glasses because they fit more snugly. The Hawaii1 is advertised as anti-fog, which is generally true as long as you’re moving forward. While running or riding, as soon as I stopped at a traffic light these glasses fog. The fog clears on it’s own once you start moving again.

My number one complaint for the Hawaii1 is that the skinny ear pieces get tangled in my hair 100% of the time. I’ve had to pull my hair out a couple of time to untangle everything. I found if I’m really careful about putting the ear pieces over my hair or headband it helps prevent this, but for me it’s still a pretty big issue. I actually opted to wear a different pair of glasses during the Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga because I was nervous it would take too much time to put the Hawaii1 on and off. I think this will be less of an issue for guys or anyone with shorter hair. I have a lot of really thick hair and it gets especially gnarly in the humid weather, so this exacerbates the situation I’m sure.

Trapped! Oops, better luck next time!

Final Verdict: they’re really comfortable and you’ll definitely look cool. I highly recommend giving the Hawaii1 or any other xx2i product a shot! Remember, 365 day return policy and lifetime guarantee! Use code xx2iRocks for 50% off and it’s a no-brainer!

  3. Those look awesome! I usually wear hats, but wonder if it’s bad for my eyes to be spending hours in the sun with no glasses when I run.

    • So the cool thing about these glasses is they’re so thin and light, they fit comfortably with a hat or visor. Usually I’ve had to choose one or the other, but these worked together just fine.
